Dual amp dilemma

Recommended Posts

ok so I'm thinkin of adding another AQ 2200D to my DC Level 4 xl

AQ amps daisy chained are rated for around ~4000-4400 wats at 2 Ohms...problem is that the xl is a dual 2

so would you guys think it would be ok to run them daisy'd at 1 ohm?

i might be having a bit of a brain let down here haha, but AQ says that a pair of 2200's have full potential at 2 ohms daisy'd...my XL is dual 2...so my only options are 1 or 4 ohms

you can run 4000 watts daily i did and then some but you have to adjust the box for that much power however i would just run 1 amp but i would not run both strapped at 1 ohm daily 1st reason you have to have a very strong electrical 2nd that would be more than 4000 watts at 1 ohm strapped.

Not only are you asking a LOT from that Lvl-4, but you're gonna need a very strong electrical system to back the amps at that impedance. Have you measured your impedance rise? I'm guessing you'll be fine running them at that impedance after rise, if you're EXTREMELY careful, for both the subs and the amps sake.

Warranty won't help you if you fry the amps trying to play some real low frequencies where impedance rise drops to nothing in your box and the amps start clipping to put out power just before they start smoking. At which point your sub will start smoking as well, because any clipping at 4400 watts is gonna roast that sub.

In short, with experience and much care with plenty of juice it could be done. I have a feeling such might not be the case...
