I am specifically talking about the 10001bd amps here.. I was wondering why the old school Power 10001bd amp put out 1000rms at 2ohm and the new Power 10001bd puts out 1000rms at 1 ohms?

Is there less of of power draw on 1ohm vs 2ohm?

doesn't a 2ohm load run cooler then a 1 ohm load?

I just wondering why they went from 2 to 1 on there design.

a 1 ohm load run less effecient than a 2 ohm load and in theory will run hotter, but not by enough that you would be able to tell the difference.

if you have a 1 ohm stable amp it gives you alot more choices for power and different vc subs you can use.

instead of just having a 2 and 4 ohm load to choose from you now have 1,2 and 4.

So based on that I could assume that the older Rockford 10001bd amp that run there rated power at 2ohm is a more efficient amp then the newer ones that run there rated power at 1ohm?

^^^those are good amps and put out solid power but they aren't as effecient as the new ones and tend to get a lil warm.

i have one on my lvl3 15 and it dont get hot at all its running just below 2 ohm????/and to boot it putting out 1k and isnt drawing more that 60 amps at full tilt i dont think the new ones can do that and its half the size...

technically you are comparing 2 separate amps.

1 is the punch series (newer)

and 1 is the power series (older)

the power series amps were designed to disperse more heat with a larger heat sink therefore increasing efficiency.

the punch series, all though it still puts out, will not run as cool in the same situation.

I have always learned that a 2 ohm load is less stress on electrical compared to a 1 ohm but it is a wiser buying decision to get the 1 ohm stable for greater wiring capabilities.

no.. I am comparing power series to power series.

2007 model T10001bd vs older Power 10001bd

so will the 1000rms at 2ohm pull less amps then 1000rms at 1ohm
