Twigz
A month ago I was in chicago driving to hang out with somebody. For the record I don't live in chicago and have little driving experience there. Continuing with the story, It was raining I mean really pouring down we were going to go see a movie. Anyways, a month later today 8/18/09 my parents find a notice in the mail from the depart revnue of chicago saying that on 7/23/09 the night I was in chicago all so my moms birthday I was seen on camera running a red light. The fine is $100 dollars and I all rdy wrote a check and will mail it tommorrow but my question would be before that I had 4 unpaid toll booth fines $25 each total of $80 but that was on the high way. Now I have $100 fine for running a red light if one more thing comes up will I be at risk to have my license suspended? I don't drive in chicago 24-7 and it's rare i'm out there and i'm a good driver but i'm only human and we all make mistakes. On the way back from the gathering of the juggalos 2009 I was on 35 hours straight no sleep, Apparently the girl I was with told me I ran a red light, which I guess that'll pop up next month will a court appearance be required? or do I just pay another $100 fine? I'm not going to chicago anytime soon so I don't have to worrie bout any more of this but the cars all so in my fathers name, so what would be the biggest consequence? I'm asking for people who have had this happen to them, and know the ropes, not sum person tellin me i'm an idiot and shouldnt of drove on 35 hours no sleep, and ect. So, if anyone could put my worries to ease it'd be appreciated. If my license will be suspended, I can't attend college which is coming up, or work, so I have no way to pay my bills or get to work. I drive on the high way 5 days a week, and all ways do the speed limit, I haven't been pulled over in a year and don't plan to be any time soon. Edited August 18, 2009 by Twigz Quote Fear The Quack! LoudBimmer
well, for running a red light they will take some points of you, which will increase your insurance about tolls, you just gotta pay the fine and that's it, just like a parking tickets
inm
Just wondering how this works. "4 unpaid toll booth fines $25 each total of $80" 4*25 = 80? And on the same topic, $25 tolls?? The car's under his name but I'm linked to it. Since it's a camera I believe it's just a fine, if it was an Officer than I'd get points but that's just my guess I don't know if i'm correct or not. Twigz
About Red-Light Camera Violations What is a red light camera violation? The red light camera program was introduced to the City in November 2003 and was implemented to reduce speeding and promote safety. The cameras have reduced red-light violations significantly. The City plans to increase the number of cameras within the next few years. To learn more about the Red-Light Camera Enforcement Program or to view a list of intersections that have a red-light camera, visit the Office of Emergency Management and Communication's Website. How does the system work? Violation notices are issued by the Chicago Department of Revenue to the registered owners of vehicles when automated cameras record vehicles proceeding into intersections in violation of traffic signals. If you violate a traffic signal at an intersection operated by a red-light camera, you will receive a red-light violation notice in the mail. The City mails notice upon receiving registration information from the Illinois Secretary of State or the vehicle authority of the state of registration. What type of a ticket/violation is this? The red-light violation is not a uniform traffic citation. Payment of the red-light violation will not impact your driving privileges and is similar to receiving a parking violation that is issued to vehicles. Failure to pay or timely contest the violation may subject you to additional enforcement activities, including the immobilization of your vehicle (boot). What does the violation notice show? The violation notice shows the three photos taken by the red-light camera system. Photo 1- shows the vehicle triggering the red-light camera, before entering the intersection. Photo 2- shows the vehicle continuing through the intersection, violating the red-light. Photo 3- shows a close up of the vehicle's license plate. Turing right on red: my car is in the first picture, but not in the second? It is very likely that you did not come to a complete stop before turning on red, as required by law. The first picture captured your vehicle triggering the red-light camera system. When the camera took the second picture, your vehicle had already driven out of the frame of the camera (sections 9-16-130 and 09-15-050 of the Municipal Code of Chicago). The vehicle in the photo is not my vehicle If you believe the vehicle or plate number shown in the photograph on the violation notice that was sent to you does not belong to you, please contact the Chicago Department of Revenue immediately at 312-744-PARK. Do red light camera violations count toward the eligibility for the boot? Yes. Red-light camera violations that become final determination and remain unpaid will count towards eligibility for the boot. Can my driver's license be suspended due to unpaid red-light tickets? Yes. Your driver's license can be suspended after you accrue five or more unpaid red-light violations that reach final determination status. I found all the information I needed here, as long as its paid, nothing bad will happen, and since i should only be gettin two violations i will keep my license. for each unpaid toll which is 80c, u get charged a fee of $25. missing the toll booth 4 times = 80 dollars. Twigz
you should be fine then, just gotta pay $100 Sad thing is, I can log in and see the video of me running the red light, and I break at the last second and than I kept going, I was trying to beat the yellow light but I broke after it turned red and unless I slammed on the breaks "it was raining out" I didn't have enough time to stop and from the video I had to being at least 15-20 mph didn't even break until last second. If i can give any advice, if u've never driven in chicago, take a fucking taxi. Edited August 18, 2009 by Twigz Quote Fear The Quack!
