The factory didnt just decide to add extra amperage to your factory alt because the expected you to put a stereo system in it. I know diesel trucks and even some tow trucks come with huge alts due to the additional accessories on those vehicles. They have a higher percentage of demand from the accessories resulting in the requirement of the larger alt.
