Cantrell2500HD
I think I'll stick with my 60g for backward compatability. Final Fantasy IX FTW But if it really doesn't put out as much heat.... that would be nice Quote 03' Reg Cab 2500HD Alpine 9807 H/U Infinity Ref 6.5" Front Speakers Pioneer 4"x6" Rear Speakers Quantum Audio 1100.1 Amp PPI 5 Channel Amp Kicker 05' S12L5's <~ thats plural baby
AI James
I'll agree that that the fat models look better. But, I think the price reduction and the reduction in heat and power consumption are great selling points. Also, it still has an internal power supply, so no power bricks *cough*XBox*cough*. Supposed to run dead silent as well.I have an 80 gig model that's still running fine. I guess I never noticed the slim doesn't have SD card slots, either. The Ps3 has had so many SKUs and design changes (some w/ 4 usb slots, some with 2. Some w/ card readers, some without. 20, 60, 80, 160 gig models) i dont give 2 shits about a power brick, i never see the damn thing anyhow its befind the TV stand. and before the RROD thing comes up... thats why i modded , i went through 3 rrod's im not paying for crap again
paul
Since it wasn't mentioned on here, I thought I'd post that Sony just released the Ps3 slim. Smaller in size, uses less power, makes less heat and noise, and does absolutely everything the same. Still has Blu ray, Wifi, etc. and comes with a 120gig HD. The new Ps3, along with all other Ps3s have dropped to $299 as well. Everyone was begging for a price drop, and here it is. If you don't have one, may be a good time to pick one up. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10312144-1.html Hmm, that's interesting. I wonder what took them so long. Has anybody ever tried installing another operating system in their ps3? Didn't even know you could.

I haven't personally tried it, but the new slim no longer allows you to install Linux on it. It's not something that 90% of people would do anyway, though.
