maniac74 Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 hey guy's i wanted to tap the knoledge on here to get an idea for an excellent box for my subs. the boxes i built for my subs are 1.09 cube sealed per fosgate spec's they do sound decent but not what i was looking for as far as the real shaking power you can feel. i know these subs can do way better than this with the amp i'm pushing them with. i listen to rock and rap but i want a good balance between the two. my suburban is huge but i dont want to use up alot of space because i do use it for work and traveling with the family. any idea's would be appreciated 99 suburban 20" boss motorsport wheels big 3 installed (thanks Iraggi) alpine 9886 deck kenwood 11 band eq fosgate t5002 amp running sub kenwood ps200 amp running components jl xr components in front doors jl xr 6.5 in rear doors jl in rear roof 1 FI Q 18" with bp enclosure 8 cubes 138 sq" port 34hz Iraggi 220 ho alt (RF 1500bd coming soon)
Shyne151 Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 If you're going to have them in a sealed box I would be putting 1000wrms to them... With the voicecoil config and amp you have, they are prolly getting less than 500watts to them. I did a box for a 2000 mustang at work that was 2.25ft^3 off a punch 1000 and it sounded good... -Installer for Duke's Car Stereo 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix - Ported Eaton M90 S/C, 3.5" pulley, XS Power Headers, 1.9 Rockers, FWI, Poly Motor Mounts, Custom Tune. maniac74 Posted September 1, 2009 Author Report Posted September 1, 2009 thats really the reason im asking wouldn't a vented box serve the purpose better than the sealed? I would have built a vented but i do not know how to build one correctly so it will sound good. the amp i have on the birth sheet says @ 4 ohms its pushing 233 watts rms at 2 ohms 768 and at 1 ohm 1129 watts rms i do have the subs wired as they should be but i can only run them at 2 ohm bridged so does that mean i'm only pushing 1/2 of the 768 to each? like 384 each? I know i should have bought the 4 ohm 12's then i could have brought it to the 1 ohm load at 1129 watts 99 suburban 20" boss motorsport wheels big 3 installed (thanks Iraggi) alpine 9886 deck kenwood 11 band eq fosgate t5002 amp running sub kenwood ps200 amp running components jl xr components in front doors jl xr 6.5 in rear doors jl in rear roof 1 FI Q 18" with bp enclosure 8 cubes 138 sq" port 34hz Iraggi 220 ho alt (RF 1500bd coming soon)
skittlesRgood Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 if you go with a ported box itll be 2x as big. look at my build log for an idea on how to save storage space. its on page 4 or 5 i think. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood. Those ratings you posted up are at 14.4... so unless you are running at 14.4 all day the amp will be doing even less than 233 per sub. The P3 can be a good sub if you put the right power to it. -Installer for Duke's Car Stereo 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix - Ported Eaton M90 S/C, 3.5" pulley, XS Power Headers, 1.9 Rockers, FWI, Poly Motor Mounts, Custom Tune.
