kingcabon20s
I saw everyone doing the 8" woofer craze i had 4 kicker comps back in the day sounded pretty decent im about to rebuild my system of 2 cvr 15s to 3 cvr 15s which i already have.. was thinking if i sold these off an bought 12 cvr 8s or 8 cvr 8s and put them in a sealed box of .6 each would they get as loud as my 3 cvr 15s ported? only sub amp i have is a bxi1606 any way the 8s could all be wired to this amp? P4killer_
Well my initial guess is the 15's will be louder. lets crunch a few #'s roughly-- the cone area of a circle is Pi*r^2 since we are comparing two circles we can leave Pi out of the equation and still have the same ratio (2Pi : 1Pi versus 2:1 same ratio) so anyway radius of an 8 is 4inches, 4in sq is 16 so each 8'' = 16(Pi) radius of a 15 is 7.5'' , 7.5 sq is 56.25 so each 15'' = 56.25(Pi) so just and em up:p 3 15'' = 168.75 8 8'' = 128 12 8'' = 192 so 11 8'' roughly is about the 3 15'' and since the 15's would be ported... i think it should be louder than 12 sealed 8'' plus you said you already have all three 15's whereas youd have to sell em and then buy all those 8's-- id stick with the 15's IMO hope this helps P4Killer Quote Setup: 2010 Hyundai Elantra Factory Unit via 4 chan NVX LOC Excessive Amperage "H/O" Alt Xs D3400/ Xs XP3000 Big 3. 2 Runs of +, 2 Runs of - DD M3b and 2 12" AQ HDC4s
CaptainzPlanetz
One 8" = 50.27 One 10" = 78.54 One 12" = 113.1 One 15" = 176.71 One 18" = 254.47 Two 8" = 100.53 Two 10" = 157.08 Two 12" = 226.19 Two 15" = 353.43 Two 18" = 508.94 Three 8" = 150.8 Three 10" = 235.62 Three 12" = 339.29 Three 15" = 530.14 Three 18" = 763.41 Four 8" = 201.06 Four 10" = 314.16 Four 12" = 452.39 Four 15" = 706.86 Four 18" = 1017.87 Taken from Derricks sticked post So given that the 3 15's would be at 530 and 12 8's would be at 603, so if both were sealed the 8's would theoretically be louder, however since the 15's would be in a ported box, you also have the addition of the back of the cone, to cone area so that puts the 15's on top to be potentially louder. Cr@sh
I built a box for a friend over the summer with 16 - 10" cvr's and he wanted it sealed even after I warned him that ported would be a much better way to go and he hated it. He only has one amp on it a 1500 watt rockford amp and it did a wopping 142 on a TL at the dash! Quote My old install at cardomain, never finished! It would of done way better if he had alot more power, to me it looks like he would of had 1/4 power or so on each sub, get three more of those RF amps I bet it will do a 150 or close to it with that cone area.
