What a shitty job they did on your electrical man. I would of atleast made a phone call to talk to the owner and take it to him to see it. I mean come on why in the hell wouldnt a shop do everything as asked when they got paid for all of the wiring and fuses. I dont get hom they didnt have a single fuse on any of your wires. I have always wired up shit myself or had a friend do it for me because of shit like this. If I were you I would get a lawyer and file suit against them because people sue shitty ass mechanics all the time so I would think you can sue a shitty stereo shop. Needless to say man I am also happy that your Tahoe never caught fire and its still in one piece. Have fun doing your rewire and whatever else your doing.

Ive been reading this thread from start to finish and I am astounded that they let a vehicle leave their workshop in such a dangerous state!

I believe they must have known they were up to their neck in it (Sh!t/debt) and were cutting corners on the stuff you couldnt see!

Not all shops are like them I can promise you, I worked for a shop for many years and would work late/overtime to make sure the job was done properly and the customer left happy!!! Thats how you get repeat buisness and stay in buisness!! But they have defo given shops/installers a bad name!!

I just wanted to know, did you get a receipt for all the work they did? If you did, does it show what equipment/sundries they used? Eg Amount of cable..fuses (I know they didnt actually use any but did they cost for them?) Etc.

Also what are your plans for the bass amps? Will you be modifying the way they are installed? Adding cooling?

Im tuned in for the re-build!!! Cant wait to find out the hoes full potential!!

Hey man thanks for taking the time to write!i see your from way across the waters,thats amazing!I too was astounded to find this stuff,because the whole time it was there they were stressing how they were worried about it being"safe" and didnt want me to have any issues.I know all shops arent like this,just so far,the ones i have found..have been like that..but luckly im in good hands now I did get a reciept but what i got wasnt any detail at all.It just said something like "large install" and that was it.

plans for bass amps are staying the same..It will be 4 revolution design D9 amps wire to .5 ohm per amp

and as far as modifying the way they are installed..maybe just a little bit..like space them apart a lil so they can breath.I may do some fans in there..especially in the mids/highs amp rack cause they get super HOTT if i play em for a while.as far as all the fiberglass work up front..it will stay the same..cause it looks great.Its just getting rewired..and everything from the back seats back will have DAVIDS majic wand waved over it..it should be so sikkk.

I must admit I am on SMD nearly every day but havnt post much due to being at work when online. I just felt really bad seeing what the results were from an audio shop and had to say something!

Im not sure what its like in the US, but here in the UK alot of audio shops are finding it hard to survive, hopefully only the good ones will be left and the industry as a whole can better itself!!

I have seen (and had to fix) in the past some terrible installs but something of the size of your vehicle I would never have expect to see soooo many cock ups!

It makes me so angry to see someones hard earned money and their trust abused!

But I can see this is the final chapter (For a while anyway..) of your install, and I will be checking in to see how it comes along!!

Whoever did the fibreglass work and trimming did a really good job, they put alot of time and effort into it and there are many installers that would not be able to get a finish that good!! Shame they didnt visit the SMD forum to gain some wiring skills!! LOL!!

when you are putting the d9 amps in the front and putting fans, make sure to get fans with low db rating so they aren't noisy!

it will cost a lil bit more than some other cheapo fans but im sure you wouldn't mind paying extra.

usually the bigger fans are less noisy(120mm more quiet than 80mm in most cases)

edit: the fans that i have in my previous build was a cheapo lot on ebay. something like $15 for 10 fans.

its noisy and doesn't move air that much.
