Very odd remote turn on problem HELP!

Recommended Posts

ok, this has me stumped.

When the head unit is in radio mode, neither one of my amps are on (same REM turn on wire) but then, if i turn my headlight switch on, both amps will turn on and work fine.

Basically {headlights on--amp on}---{headlights off---amp off} WTF!!!

(btw its a 93 chevy silverado 350 4X4)

It only does this in radio mode. CD and AUX work fine and it doesnt matter if the headlight switch is on or off.

The only thing I can think of is the ground power is running throught the headlight circuit? I have upgraded my batt-frame wire to 4 gauge and all the other grounds are good.

ANY IDEAS what the heck is going on??!

I believe you have something hooked up wrong

what type of radio, was it installed using a harness adapter, try doing it with the antenna disconnected. be careful that if you used a harness adapter that the illumination wire (or dimmer wire) is taped off

I did not use a wiring harness because I was cheap, but Im pretty sure i did not mess the wiring up because then i dont think it would work in cd & aux mode. But I will try disconnecting the antenna tomorrow.

  • 4 weeks later...

The antenna thing didnt work. I think somehow a wire is getting power when i turn the headlights on. This in turn, is powering on the remote turn ons for the amps

my friends car does that too. exept the headlight thing (as far as i know). his sony did it. i chaged his deck and it worked fine. little while later it started again. amps dont work with the radio on... ive tried asking about that on forums and never got an answer.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.
