For all You 4.3L V6 guys who want more Output from your alternator. My alt Was dying so i went to My local Auto zone and looked at a new alternator.

My buddy Has a 99 Tahoe with a 5.7 V8 and i noticed the acc. brackets were the same, so i had my buddy at AZ grab a 140 amp alt that was listed for a tahoe, after some measuring and comparing i noticed the bolt holes were the same but Th e alt Was WAY bigger so i decided to try it. It was actually cheaper than a replacement for my 100 amp anyway. i needed a 3.00 dollar pigtail harness as well. I got home put it in and it works great, Lifetime warranty and an extra 40 amps of output for 120.00 :) here are some pics and part numbers so you can do it too. I would still suggest a Bigger Better alt but if you have to replace you stock one why not save a few bucks and gain some power?

Stock

Checking size before installing

Installed, very tight fit due to throttle cable bracket but it still fit with no Problems.

Part numbers, it just looks HUGE in there lol

Since the install my voltage stays at 13.1 to 14.6 all the time even with on junk "duralast Gold" I know after a gel cell ill stay at 14+, with my old 100amp my voltage would drop to 10.8 and i was afraid of damage so i upgraded.

I know this inst a super cool MOD and AZ stuff sucks but if still a little help none the less...

lower tuning is just hard. I was surprised how loud 145 sounds at 35hz, and how quiet 145 sounds at 50hz.

BTW the AD244 from an 01 tahoe is a direct replacement...minus needing a little bit larger belt.

A half-wit gave you a piece of his mind, and you held on to it.

Nice the alt i used come on the police package trucks and is "100% garunteed" when i called the company that manufactured it they said that my alt. is somewhere around 160 amp output so im happy. Sorry if this was a repost. the cavalier does have a slightly different alt though. If your gonna do this mod make SURE you get the one with the metal cooling fins NOT plastic as those are not "the heavy duty version" as he told me on the phone. The plastic one still does the rated 140 though, just not the 160 of the HD.

And if anything you would need a SMALLER belt in my case because the pulley was WAY smaller.

Sorry for the triple post if must have freaked out.
