Either way, what North Olmsted Performance said is correct although the interviewer won't be as critical of you on those points if the job you are interviewing for isn't what most would consider a "career". Just make sure to talk in correct English, no slang and to go into the interview with a good idea of what the position entails. Also, be prepared for such questions as: "Was there ever a situation when you turned a negative customer experience into a positive one? If so, tell me about what you did to make it positive." "What is your biggest strength? What is your biggest weakness?" Don't forget the always popular "What can you bring to the company in order to make us a better business?" Almost forgot; don't ask about sick days, vacation or hourly pay. Let them bring it up first since they are offering the job to you. You can negotiate after they mention it. IF, and I say it loosely because I do not know what the qualifications of the job are or what is the qualifications of the interviewee are, If you already have 1-2 years experience then you should be $1-$2 over minimum wage... and if you qualified for any other programs or completed any courses that are directly related to work, you get paid more. references from previous employers need to be spot on. I had people apply for positions with me and asked astronomical pay rates, I ask to justify their pay request by bringing in a copy of their last pay check with year to date totals... arthurk Posted September 9, 2009 Report Share Posted September 9, 2009 (edited) This is something that I am very good at so to start with, and I am not dogging you in any way, but don't talk like you type. Your post lacks general punctuation and capitalization. Wear at the very least Pressed Dockers that fit, a long sleeve dress shirt and a tie. No tennis shoes, no jewelry other than a watch or wedding ring, and a belt. Make sure the clothes fit. This is an interview so what you are wearing will probably make you not look "cool" to your friends but your fat paycheck will so dress to impress. This applies to ANY job including a fast food interview, cook, any interview. Next, eye contact with the interviewer at all times. A firm hand shake and then sit up straight and sit on the edge of the chair. You want to seem cheerful, smile alot, and act as though you are FULL of energy. No slouching in your chair, no mumbling, and no staring away as you respond to questions. Make sure your phone is off, not just on vibrate. If they ask do you have reliable transportation, say YES! Never,ever, talk about money, bonus, benefits, etc. on the first interview, NEVER! If they ask what questions you have for them, ask the interviewer what he likes about the company and that will take the pressure off of you for a minute or two. Always know something about the company by looking it up on the web if possible and let them know that you do in fact know something about them. Body language is key. If you look sharp, speak well, firm handshake, you can sell yourself and get the job. Many companies hire for attitude as they can teach anybody to do the job but you can't teach someone who always frowns to smile and be nice. Hope that helps a little. Good luck!!!! Oh and by the way, I see you are in Tahoe and I have played in many of the casinos there in many bands so there is lots of money to be made working in that biz!
