michaelholey
I have a pretty dumb question that I wanna get cleared up. my friend says he can power his 2 subs with a 2 channel amp down to .5 ohms without any problems. I told him otherwise, yet he still is convinced that he can do it. he thinks I can power my 1 ohm amp down to .5 ohms also. Please tell me I am right and he is wrong. Thank you!!!! CaptainzPlanetz
The Mono amp may or may not be able to run at .5 ohms, also given you have good electrical to run at .5 ohms, the 2 channel amp tell him to do, and then record it and post it on here, I need a good laugh. rawlins87
you could run .5 ohm (with a 1ohm stable amp) if there was enough box rise

Read my post about box rise, search the subwoofer subforum for it... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...c=46770&hl= Box rise is NOT a constant. It changes massively depending on the frequency being played, it's all about the impedance/inductance curve of the woofer + enclosure combination. CaptainzPlanetz
^^^^^^^^^^^^ Which is why competitors can factor in box rise, since they only burp one frequency, the only way I would run an amp at .5 ohms is if I did research to make sure the amp could handle that low load. BTW to the OP what are the amps you are talking about?. Quote ¿ǝɯɐƃ ǝɥʇ Trolls never learn............
