Questions about adding 2nd battery

Hey guys I have a few questions about adding a second battery in my 99 durango. My 1st question is Can I put a duramaxx up front and a yellow top in the back? Do I neeed an isolator for this or can I just run 0 ga. from the front right to the yellow top(with fuses of course). Also, would it be alright to ground my second battery to this. Its all metal

Yes you can put the Yellowtop in the back, I dont really like mixing wet and dry cells but you will be fine. You only need an isolator if you are planning on running the system for long periods with the car off. And the seat belt bolt is an ok ground but not the best, for my amp once I changed the ground from the seat belt, to a hole I drilled on the floor, my resistance went down a pretty good deal.

I actually have the opposite situation, i was grounded to a hole i drilled, and now im grounded at a seatbelt bolt that goes directly to the chassis and my noise is 100% gone. That doesnt look like a very good ground though you want to clean it with sandpaper and have a good contact point. Try to find a direct bolt that goes to the chassis.

Yes it would be better, just make sure to sand off the area where you drill, and bolt your ground to it, also make sure you know what is under the spot you are drilling as you dont want to drill into anything important.

Edit: Givin Crumps problem was solved doing the opposite of how my problem was solved I would say first just sand the hell out of where you have it grounded now, then take a multimeter and touch the positive lead to the +Battery Post and the Negative lead to where you plane on grounding the battery and check the readings you get, do the same before you drill a hole, sand the area but dont drill yet, and check your readings and what ever reading is better use that ground.

Yeah most deff..scrape paint till you see bare metal..and use a stainless bolt and nut..or use silicone on the out side part of the bolt (rust FTL)
