3000 Watts RMS...What do I need?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be running an FI BTL off 3000 watts rms in a 1999 pontiac grand prix.

What size alternator would be best? and should i replace my stock battery? if so, any recommendations?

i was thinking of a kinetik 1400?

also, i don't plan to play music when car is off, only when it is running

thanks.

You could probably manage it with a 150 amp alternator and a big battery. That's the budget route at least.. It will still work but maybe not for long periods of time or at red lights lol

1/0 from front to back in + and -

Big 3 in 1/0

2 Big batteries or upgraded alt and 1 big battery

i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?

i wouldn't go with anything less t hen a dc 230 on 3k+wrms. He should be seeing 180 - 210 amps being pulled by the amp(s) alone, then factor in the rest of the vehicle.
