Before I say anything Is that a Kicker ZR600 in the pic that has the only Kicker amp in it?

To your question,

Yes yes and yes.

Dude there is nothing wrong with running old school amps. Leaving my financial issues aside I like to run tried and true products.

There are acouple of items that are out there I know that I would love to run but in the end I have hunted down and chosen products that have stood the test of time and I still consider a fair amount of my equipment top of the line even though my RF subwoofer amps were discontinued in 2003 and my Kicker ZR360s and ZR1000s were put out of production at the end of 2001.

As for subwoofers I'm usually a Kicker guy(whitch I seem to have a decent amount of older Kicker subs but no yellow label series) but I have had a hard on for RF Punch HX2s as long as they were dual 2 ohm versions for years and just aquired a set of fair to good condition Punch HX2 15s that are D2s and now that I have found the rite glue I now have a brand new set of D2 10 inch HX2s that I reconed so I call them new.

As far as your amps go I say run them! those amps have stood the test of time and infact when I had a few to many amps laying around I sold my Punch 200ix to my niebor(LOL not before I had a Punch 225.2 from 97 in my hands first) and that damn 1995 200ix is still working great for him.

I also have a Punch 40ix like you have and would be willing to use it in a heart beat if I had a small system to do and I have its later model the Punch 40.2 with the X-card (same as(era) my Punch 225.2) and that dirty little brick of an amp will handle a nominal 2 ohm load bridged all day every day without problems. ( 3 different personal installs all 2 ohm bridged on my Punch 40)

Man I would like to see you run them and to be quite honest you should be pretty proud about it.

I'm not going to leave without one negative thing though but not a huge deal and nothing to even think about if used on subs was I did notice going from the DSM200 and DSM200ix to the Punch 225.2 witch is the same as the 200x2 with the Trans-ana circuit that there was a very noticable difference in sound quality out put for the better might I add.

Hell yes run them old DSM amps you have and maybe use the Kicker on your subs if you want.

I'm broke and won't have money any time soon but I want to know the deal on your Kicker ZR or XS amp that is in the pics you shared.

I probably want it but again I'm broke with no income forseen in the near future.

Still want details though.

Enjoy your old school setup man.

I say hell yes run them too. I collect alot of old RF amps and subs they're some of the best stuff rockford ever produced. I have some amps from that era -two old punch power 500m's and a punch power 250m2 and a punch 100ix-awesome stuff! I'd never sell my punch 100ix, I've owned it since new and got me to love rockford. I say run it and enjoy!

Thanks for your insight, As for the kicker amp pictured, it is a XS 100 and im affraid it is not for sale. Like i said, it holds a value to me and i would like to keep it. I probably will use the 40's and the 60 on my highs when i get down to it and then try to get a rockford power elite series for my sub(s). I have gone back and forth with what i want to do as far as subs and it is really still up in the air. I would love to have the T4000.1 but i hear they are very power hungry and im not sure i want to feed that big of a beast. I drive a trailblazer so space is ample for the most part, thinkin bout an 18 inch BTL or 2 15's of some sort. Who knows LOL

Those are in GREAT shape, ill pay shipping if ya don't want em ;) lol

yeah, they are pretty clean, I have had most of them since new. I try to take care of things like that just because i am a neat freak. I went to your youtube page. You are pushing that BTL with a 360.1 and its flexing the rear door like that?

Well a XS100 is just what I need for my collection! B)

Ya man thats a wise choice to keep the XS100 even if you don't use it later on. The only ZR amps I have sold out of my collection is when I start to have 2 to 3 of the same model for awhile.(EX: 4 ZR360's at one time LOL).

The good news is, is if you can run that XS100 with very little voltage drop then there is a good chance you could do a direct swap to a class D amp that is around 2,000 watts RMS.

XS100= an average of 40% effiecent verse the average 2,000 watt Class D capable of 80% efficent and both amps are 1 ohm stable if you choose.

Enjoy your new old system man.

I am running 6 old school MTX Road Thunder amps that are 10-12 years old. :) No school like old school!

Just because they are older, doesn't mean they are bad. Amps really don't have a shelf life like that as long as they were treated well. If they were good then, they are good now. Just with some age and history behind them.

Run it!!!

I hear what you guys are saying. Thanx for the feedback. I don't doubt the performance at all. My main concern is that if I blow one of the amps it's gonna be hard to replace it with one of equal or superior performance while maintaining the uniform look.

then dont blow them, amps dont just spontaneously blow, they blow because of being overdriven (either just too loud for too long, or too low of an impedance), so as long as you're careful you should be fine.

the only old school thing i have is an original punch 45 back when it was like 11wattsx4 (as in 45 watts total...it was my dad's and went through like 6 cars and is now packed away along with some real old blaupunkt stuff)

do it so long as you're not looking for a daily beater system, it is something you wouldnt want to blow up.
