Question about amperage flow in wire

i see every body talking about how many strands are in their power wire, because apparently the more strands the more current you can have flowing because amps flow on the surface of wire. but i have been able to find anything saying that current flows on the outside. the only thing that has come close is the skin effect. where the core of a piece of wire gets more resistant that the surface but that only in a/c current. could somone point me in the right direction? does curennt flow on the outside of wire or not? and if someone had a link to some info proving it i would really aprciate it.

car audio is just a LOT more complicated than "this amp does this power" or "this sub will be this loud". its like 2 + 2 = banana. (if that confuses you then you get the point) lol

DC power used the entire wire. the biggest advantage to a higher wire count is flexability. you can fit a little more copper in there because of the smaller pieces but its nothing major.

Damn would someone finish this for me I keep passing out and I can't seem to finish what startered to write. Sorry.

To give the 2 guys above me credit but they didn't offer full explanations and this might make me look like a dumbass since I might not a full explanation either.

This is the simplified version that both poster touched on about strandid wire.

1st: it is the high or higher frequncies that travel on the outside of stranded wire.

2nd: why do they make wire with as many threads as possible?

I'm sure there is more than one reason but I have no idea what those would be, so I'm going back to why they use as many strands as possible in the type of wire we all use from what I understod.

The biggest reason is because of flexability wicth inturn makes it easyer to route that type of wire through a vehicle but hold on theres another part.

The other reason is because of the design charactoristics of large stranded wire and that is very resistent to vibration wihich inturn makes that type of wire perfect for the automibile industry and can.(needs finished I'm falling asleep) It with stands abusive enviroments much better that solid 12 gauge
