Sanitarium's Single cab fiberglass short build log (long build few pictures)

Recommended Posts

I did this as practice with fiberglass, and to have some temporary beats till i get funds for a blowthrough :diablo:

it's 60 wide, 16 tall, and just barely clears the magnets on my 12" elemental designs 13kv.2 D4's. Powered with a bostwick DA1200-HC [email protected].

First try, frameing.

Glassed up, bad bondo fiberglass, no sanding done yet... boy did i F up pretty hardcore.

really really hardcore..

So then i realized, that's not enough air room AT ALL, and looking at the work the cheap resin and unskilled hands done, i scraped it and started over.

Didn't get a picture of the new frame, but it was the same minus the amp rack.

New glass work (good resin, and more patient hands.

Tested it to see if it was strong enough

Middle of the box (big wide area with very little curvature) needed a little more work so, one more coat, resin in the corners, and some bracing.

Then on to bondo! ..... i hate sanding even more now. (note: i'm inside doing this.. been flooding here... and the wife now hates my hobby haha)

Then covering. so much work just to have something flat to glue fabric to. Used red velvet to match some parts of my truck.
