doug118 Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 not sure how many 96-00 civic owners are on here but I figured I'd share this for the ones who may not know about this little trick. factory Acura dummy player cupholder oh hello alpine all that is needed to do this is a 96-98 cupholder and a few screws. I should have done my own write up on this but I don't have a camera so I couldnt but I'll try my best 1. remove all the screws for the armrest and center console and remove it. this will reveal the cupholder 2. remove the 4 screws holding in the cupholder 3. once the cupholder is out, you can unbolt the pocket that is where the headunit will go 4. now there are 4 holes on the sides of the cupholder that will line right up with any headunit which makes for a very simple mod 5. as for the wiring harness, you should be able to reach behind and unplug it from the factory deck and pull it down to the lower spot I think the best part is, when you remove your faceplate and open the cup holder, the deck is unseen for the most part. so you can leave the factory deck in place and throw any thieves off 2001 Tahoe. knowledge Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 not bashing on the idea but a few people been knowing that for the longest, it looks good but doesnt work with my indash very well! REFF'SMy linkEBAYhttp://feedback.ebay...ck&myworld=trueI love car audio so much because I will never be done. I can never win, and I will never get it finished or perfect. It always has me coming back for more, I can never get my fill of it, but I get what I need.

I never said it was something new and creative. there is a writeup for this on every honda forum in existance, but there isn't one on here so I figured if I could inform at least one person of this on here then cool. and to be 100% honest, I think its a pain in the ass being down there since you have to sit forward to reach it, BUT as long as its not in plain sight for thieves to see them I'm fine with it 2001 Tahoe. treo12 Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 it would make it hard to use i wouldn't do that to my honda i would hate having to reach down there to change songs. at one time i used a radio dead plate and put it right there and molded in a voltage gauge so i could keep and eye on my battery in the back. also a buddy of mine got rid of the cup holders and molded in his own ipod dock.
