box for my dc lvl 4

Recommended Posts

  • 2 weeks later...

I bought a "Custom" prefab box that is 2 cubes @ 32hz and it sounds really good the lows are great like Jeezy songs that have mid to low 30hz notes. I am sadly only running 800 rms @ 4 ohms from an Infinity amp and it sounds good but cant wait to get a higher powered amp either the AQ 1200 or the Sundown 1200 and run the sub/amp at 1 ohm.

I am interested on peoples input as well for box specs for the level 4 12.

I would just stay close to what DC says is its required size. Cant really go wrong there. Someone you know has to know how to build a decent box or you should at least attempt it yourself.

is this like a prefab box, or a custom box that just so happens to be kicking around that is right?

remember that dc's like a relatively large port. And personally i'd tune a bit lower, but 38 should be fine. just be careful playing CnS music

i believe its prefab im going in today or tomorrow to pick it up cause my new AQ amp is coming today. i dont really play C&S music so i think i should be fine in that aspect, but i mean DC suggests 1.5 cubed and Drew told me that tuning 35/36 would be ideal but i could tune up to 40hz and still have it sound great. i just want to make sure itll be able to hit all those notes in jeezy but still kill double bass in the metal i listen to... regardless im going to try to build my own box this winter closer to 2cuft and tuned to 34-36

I had a level 4 12 in a 2 cubic ft box tuned to 35 Hz and it was loud and still killed the lows and i have a ED 9.1 amp at 1 ohm pushing it. That amp is 1200 watts at 1 ohm.
