box for my dc lvl 4

Recommended Posts

well i made another topic about this but it barely got any views so i thought id try in the DC section

i did some searching but didnt really find anything that helped me out

right now i am awaiting the arrival of a DC lv 4 12 inch sub and i am deciding upon enclosure specs. the thing is i am at college and i live in a dorm and dont have the supplies or tools to make a box so i talked to a local custom shop and the box that we talked about was 1.5 cuft tuned to 38 hz. i listen to mainly rock with some rap and i was told that this would be a good box for my purposes, but what are your guys opinions?

thanks for all of the help

I would go 2.25-2.5 cubes with the same tuning.

WTH you talking 'bout? I know of at least 4 responses in that thread. One of them was by me.

EDIT: Unless it's a different one I'm thinking about...

My comp setup (Not bad for what it is):

HP Compaq Presario V6120US laptop with:

15.4" widescreen

AMD Turion 64 X2 1.6GHz processor

2x1GB stick DDR2 SDRAM (667 Mhz)

Seagate Momentus 500GB SATA HDD

128MB shared video memory

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

12 cell Lithium Ion battery (actual battery usage time: 6 hours)

What it does:

nah everyone was directing their answers towards the builder of the box (the custom shop) because of something i recall him saying, but then everyone just left the thread behind

nvm you did comment in it, but im looking more for tuning advice i was originally told 38 would be ok then i mentioned 38 in the thread and everyone was like no thats not going to work.

right now i think im going to buy the box 1.5 cuft tuned to 38 unless anyone thinks its an absolutely terrible idea, and then in december im going to build a box about 2 cuft maybe tuned closer to 35

Why waste the money. Go ahead and get a 2 cube box and tune it to whatever you want. I don't know how those DC's would like that little airspace. But I've never run DC's, so I don't know. It's up to you.

well from the website it says that the ported specs are 1.5 cuft for a 12. i mean if this box will work i dont really have a problem spending the money until i can build my own if i even need to build my own

Yeah, it should work. But it won't be very loud.
