abervintageman42
if properly built a ported box WILL NOT affect SQ
LordArcane
as far as i understand porting a box does make it louder but at the same time it makes the bass little more sloppy in most cases. a seal box done right will have much tight bass but a ported box will have alot more punch on the bass notes again don't hold me to this since i don't know everything about making boxes but this is what i understand of it at this time and i'm sure someone will be able to explian this is more detail
Jared420
If the subs are meant to be ported it should make it louder but will decrease the response. Ported bass unless done by someone who REALLY knows what there doing can make the sq a little worse because sealed the response is better and the bass is tighter. depends what you are looking for and what you listen to. Jared420
dont u loose some mid bass frequencies from ported encloseres ? at least that what i was told.... Thats in how the box is tuned, tune to higher freq you get higher bass the lower you tune the lower the bass. I have heard sealed hits more of a range of basses better but ported is more concentrated on what type of bass you want.
