shawnschuldt
I was just wondering how much airspace i need around my box for it to still be loud without loosing much of the sound, im porting through the back deck and i got about 3 inches ontop and if i remove that trim about 4 1/2 inches infront. tejcurrent
I've always been told to keep at least as much as the port is high (for instance if the port is 23w x 5 h, keep at least 5 inches). I've had several boxes that were 1/2 the distance they "should" be, but they sounded a lot better than some others that stuck to the rule. I would build the box the way you need it to fit the subs in properly and go from there. I'm sure some will disagree but I say try it and rebuild if unhappy. tejcurrent XS Power T3
Boon
I've always been told to keep at least as much as the port is high (for instance if the port is 23w x 5 h, keep at least 5 inches). This. Well, allow at least the area of the port plus a bit more. Otherwise the panels just act as a kinda horrible extension to your port. Can be a good way to get a higher tuned box to play low though 10.x volts fo' life!
