99s10dowork
Is there anything wrong with haveing 0 gauge wire and 4 gauge wire running to the same amp? like 2 separate runs but both to the same amp...as added wire size... 2002 Chevrolet Silverado regular cab 3/6 drop -Alpine cda-9884 -Rockford Fosgate Power 6.5's -US Amps XT-4000DE V2 -Fi SSD 10d2-for now

t-money
chain is only as strong as your weakest link man so if your runnin 4 gauge into an amp that has 1/0 anyway the 4 gauge wont be doin much unless your really suckin current the the 4 gauge will choke the amp 2002 ford focus hatch pioneer DEH-P8400bh infinity kappa 6.5 components front and rear XS Power D1200 Shuriken BT-100 audioque 120.4 2 15 inch audioque HDC3 D2 2 audioque 2200d big 3 mechman 220a alt with external regulator 479-418-3056
Torres
a good run of 1/0 can handle 3-3500 watts. not sure why you would wanna try and cram a 4 gauge wire in there? it wouldnt necessarily hurt tho. as long as they're together on the same fuse. and the ground is the same way. like t money said, you're only as strong as your weakest link
Brianrj90
The 4 gauge wouldn't be a weakest link though would it? The energy would just take the path of least resistance, so having 1/0 and 4 awg should always give a less resistant path than just 1/0. Think of it like two tubes carrying water from a single source. It doesn't matter if one of the tubes is a different size than the other, the water should have an even pressure throughout both tubes. And that pressure would obviously be less if you had two, not just the biggest one.
t-money
well the 1/0 would have les resistance and if your pulling enough juice u would need 2 runs of 1/0 not 4. u could use 4 but y not overdo it the first time around so u dont have to redo when u upgrade lets say your pullin 300 amps. and say the 1/0 can only handle 200 just for this situation. the 1/0 is gonna be flowing all it can that 4 gauge cant flow that much=wire gets hot=fire 2002 ford focus hatch pioneer DEH-P8400bh infinity kappa 6.5 components front and rear XS Power D1200 Shuriken BT-100 audioque 120.4 2 15 inch audioque HDC3 D2 2 audioque 2200d big 3 mechman 220a alt with external regulator 479-418-3056
