Slapz Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 Whats should i be aiming for if i want a crazy low end. ie i want to play 25-33hz as loud as possible but still play music up to 40hz. Other than just tuning uber low what else should i be doing? BIG box? what kind of woofers is a low fs and big xmax important?

X2.H10.V4 Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 A low FS and a lot of stroke is a good thing to have when you are looking for insane lows but the right enclosure plays a huge roll also. I personally have build some boxes that smash the lows but are extremely lacking after 40Hz with a huge roll off but in the end I always end up rebuilding to something that has a flatter response curve. It may be cool for a while, but daily it gets old and you want something a little more "full". Several different types enclosure will do what you want, t-lines, 4th or 6th order BP or a standard ported enclosure will do just fine. For a standard ported enclosure, I would suggest a large low tuned enclosure with a good amount of port area (16in^2 per ft^3).
