Guest Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 So a while ago i bought some MB Quart DKH116's for $51 at Fry's (open box, looked brand new, they dont stock broken returned items). orig price when they first stocked em was $179. anyways, when i play music, whether its loud or quiet, the mid's sound like theyre blown and/or scraping against the side of the motor. the tweeters sound fine. when this happens it kind of pisses me off since it took a good 2 hours to install (had to mod the rear deck). then 5 minutes later they will sound absolutely amazing. and the cycle continues. both of them read 3.6ohms. what would be the problem? im completely stumped.

Forevrbumpn Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 ^ You got it SPL What happening is the fact its a coax special, and the gap is left open, a little piece of debris gets in there, and you get a intermittent scrape, rub sound try some compressed air, or paper with some tape on it that might be able to pick up the debris from the gap common problem with coaxial speakers I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
