enemyofsilence
you will be much happier with birch ply if you are comfortable your enclosure design is proper. Birch ply is stronger and WAYYYY lighter than MDF of the same thickness, and its most likely only a few dollars more in your area. the weight savings alone is worth the switch. and if you have any problems with bracing use some threaded rod x2 i love birch. birch>mdf anyday IMO Quote Team Bass-Hz
Eric B
Now I work at Lowes and I can tell you Birch isnt twice as much.. is $5 more dollars per sheet here.. Is the Birch sheet your looking at Birch/Maple.. now thats about twice as much as MDF.. Marlo Stanfield
For a 60lb woofer and 2kw I'd suggest a double baffle plus sum bracing. I've done flush mounts in the past also and it is somewhat difficult to get a heavy sub out(when its subs are facing upwards). Quote 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer... New setup, old ride... skittlesRgood
forget the fiberglass and use bracing. much faster and cheaper.
