duct_tape123
Alright I've decided to build a ported sub box to put in my Suburban. Its a dual 12" box. I'm using a pair of Rockford Fosgate RFZ3412. The overall dimensions are 44" wide, 14" deep, 15.75" tall. Thats a perfect 2.0 cu.ft. (using 3/4" MDF) after port and sub displacement are subtracted. I'm not sure if the port is right though. Rockford recomends a 4" dia. X 10.75" long (35 Hz)port. I have atempted to calculate the equivilant slot port and got 6.25" X 2" X 10.75" inside dimensions per sub. Is it alright if I just add the two together or should I keep them seperate. This is my first atempt at porting a box so you guys just tell me what to do. I also have plans to upgrade subs soon but don't want to build a new box. Will this box be tuned right (~35 Hz)or will I have to change the port? Also how do you tune a port to a certain frequency? Thanks, Chris

sean 371
If you add two ports together, the length changes slightly due to less port friction. But not a super significant amount. A couple links to some box builds: Tahoe Box 1, Tahoe Box 2, Nissan Titan, VW GTI, Mini-Bump, Hummer H2, Ford F-150 My own car builds (current setup --- under construction): Overall Thread, Kickpods, Dash, Back Doors Subwoofer Wall
