Comp keeps restarting by itself??

My computer keeps restarting on its own what could be the problem?  BTW it a Gateway 504GR it that makes a difference

virus FTL, that would be the best thing, could be power supply over heating, video card problems a number of things.

used to have the problem about 2 hours after being turned on, it turned out i didnt dust it in so long that the dust caused it to over-heat even with 5 fans

that would be the first thing i tryed, totally passed my mind as i dont sem to get dust in mine here at home.

Have you checked your event logs?

sometimes its due to a lack of power. but a virus could be the issue if its been running steady then all of a sudden a kick in the face happens

seems all it was is a heat issue i spoke with him on aim, and he just needs to clean it, it only turns off if he has it on days at a time

go to my computer->right click-> properties->Advanced tab-> click settings on Startup and Recovery-> uncheck the box Automatically restart.

Next time it fails itll give you the "blue screen of death" but itll give you an error code. write that down then post that back in here or google it.

My Old computer used to restart by itself about 30min after being turned on or it would shutdown as soon as i started it. After a while, i found out that it was KaZZa Lite and Imesh that were stuffing it up. Just recently it fried due to power-box failure :'( so know i got a laptop and i use that.
