1992Chevy K1500
Ok, so I'm doing a little math project on the side and need help. I need to know the diamter of the pressure mic in a TL. I know it's not a mic per say, but I need to know the diamter (in inches) of the part that senses pressure. thanks in advance. 1992Chevy K1500
I'm working on a project to determine the decibel level of a setup to + or - 5 decibels. I'm using Meade's hoe as an example, and am getting close to my answer. I just assumed it was .5" in diameter, and working backwards through my current formula, I ended up with the math saying Meade was putting just under 40,000 watts to all 4 of his subs. A lot, I know, but 2 hours ago, the math had him putting 500 kW (yes, 500,000 watts to his subs!) !!! So, I'm def. getting close to having a formula on my hands. I've been thinking about it for 3 days, I found a thread back in the near end of the off topic section that got me interested. I was going to bump it when I got the math right. RamenNoodles
I honestly dont see this formula being accurate. Maybe im not understanding what you are trying to do, but I think you are trying to use a mathematical equation to figure out how loud a vehicle will be? 1992Chevy K1500
I honestly dont see this formula being accurate. Maybe im not understanding what you are trying to do, but I think you are trying to use a mathematical equation to figure out how loud a vehicle will be? Pretty much. I know it's not going to be very accurate, that's why I gave an acceptable error rate of + or - 5 decibels. Hopefully that'll account for the differences among vehicles. I know it's probably a lost cause, but I can't get it out of my mind till I try. I'm like that sometimes. I think he is trying to find an equation tieing together the meter, decibels, and wattage. yep. as close as I can. And it includes the cone area of the subs, too. kbreudi
what exact information do you need? The actauly opening on the black box sensor is around 1/8" the opening of the actaul preasure sensor (the mic inside the black box) is around maybe 1/32" not trying to bash you man but its extermely hard to derive any formual that is a bit accurate when it comes to spl..spl is in no way linear as well...either way i admire you interest and drive toawrds what your doing, good job and good luck Quote TEAM SUNDOWN 4 Nightshade 15"s 2 Sundown SAZ-4500 8 Deep Cycle batts 1998 Cadillac Catera SPLMAX CUP 2008 Fourth Place Overall
1992Chevy K1500
I find this impossible to determine with a calculation... LOL. What, the thread or my though process? BTW, I think I'm even closer. Assuming the TL mic is approx. .3" in diameter, then the formular works! I'm kinda happy, but don't want to celebrate too early. what exact information do you need? And that info completely blows the formula out of the water. LOL. Oh well. But then agian, maybe not. Oh, and yeah, SPL is logarithmic. That's part of my formula.
