Mid bass preference

This is what Iam looking at, if I can afford both styles

6.5" 100- 2,500 hz

8" 60- 350hz

i like a 6.5 for a midbass driver myself. but ive been contemplating getting an 8 or 2 sealed to play from 60-250hz or something along those lines.

6.5's are the standard.... 8" done right sound good... kevlar or carbon fiber for me....

seriously looks like I may have to invest in to both sizes

I want to have the ability to make a kick ass 3 way component system with these, or do some really nice home audio tower speakers if need be

I never asked anyone about tweeters only because that is taken care of , so I didn't ask anyone.

Looking like Carbon fiber 6.5" midrange/midbass is the most popular followed by the 8"

There is a second company that I can do fewer quantity, maybe with that I can do a cf/ Kevlar models, not sure

I had to vote for the 6.5 inch driver. For me the smaller driver would allow for more applications and options in an install.

I don't know much about cones so I chose the paper cone. I know it won't take the abuse the other styles offer but I have always been under the impression that paper cones are one of the most musical materials a person can use and hey we are dealling with midbasses so the more musical the better.

And when I talk about paper cones I really mean the pulp pressed cones like RF used to use and Cerwin Vega.

Forever I think the biggest issue to me would be the motor structure size. Kicker had a winner with their SS and RMB 6.5s and 8s (not sure why they are discontinued) because of the very low mounting depth and execellent SQ.

The problem I'm haveing with my truck is the motor diameter and therefore will need to find a set of Kicker ss series midbasses instead of the Competition 6.5 that I want to use.

These are my real world issues that if you want to make something think about these options. SQ along with an RMS of 150 watts and the smallest motor structure you can design.

ahh... I didnt bother to put motor size in to consideration, very very good point there ISO

I was looking at 30oz and 50oz magnets That would be pretty hard to fit in a stock location, especially shallow

So, maybe a neo motor may be best, I should get pricing on that as well

I planned on myself doing 2 8s, 2 6.5s and 2 tweeters per door, and well, unless I glass the hell out of what I was going to do etc, there will be about 20+lbs per door of speakers alone, to me that seems kind of high, running neo, that would drop in half atleast

Ya man motor stucture is my biggest opsticle at the moment in my install but when we all know that there might be cost issues when designing a smaller motor structure with equivalent power abilityies as a bigger design.

The trade off is how many more apps that design will yield should make up the cost difference in theory.
