LunatikGixxer
Ok guys i just got my new box built for my two aq 15s and it sounds great! I also did the Big 3, on my cap its still reading the same numbers 13.8-14.1, but my engine light went off. Thats the only difference i noticed with the big 3. The 15s are being ran off of a AQ2200d at 2 ohms. The amp pushes 1300 x 1 @ 2ohms. So each sub is basically getting 650 watts and all of us know thats like a pinch of power for these subs. As i break them in they will get louder. I am thinking of running it down to .5 ohms, so how much would each sub be getting? OR should i just leave them at 2 ohms for now, and buy another 2200; that means if i buy another 2200 watt amp im going to have to buy an upgraded alternator. I really dont want to wire them down to .5 ohms bcuz i dont want anything messin up again so soon. But i also want more power after the break in is complete. Tell me what u guys think. I think im going to just go ahead and spend the money on an alt and another amp. Also if i buy another amp, what other upgrades will i need? will i need 1 more battery too?! (I already have one under the hood and one in the back). Let me hear ur opinions. Thanks! OldsBoomer
i would not run that amp at .5 ohms with out electrical upgrades so which ever way you go your should upgrade your electrical i say get a nice alt the biggest battery you can fit up front and a nice big secondary if not two for the back and buy another AQ 2200 or sell the one you got and get the new AQ3500 when it comes out... which is my plan Quote Suburban Coming Soon
Basshead08
I run my aq 1200 at 0.5 ohm but like said above you will need electrical upgrades either way. The only thing about running at 0.5 ohm is that your warranty goes out the window. So make your decision with that in mind. LunatikGixxer
ya im not going to run it at .5 ohms just for that reason. Also ive been breaking my subs in thoughout the day, the just finished getting reconed, is it UNcommon for a pair of subs to be moving around differently? Like on the lows one moves around a little more than the other. Is that just the stiffness? Beanz
how did you build your box cause that dont sound bueno Quote That's why they don't deliver. Yer ass better go sit along the side of the road and wait. You can't expect them to travel up some dirt road in a hick / back woods town. Thats how horror movies start I explain things very simply and use analogies in terms of Pickles, and grape drink, pool noodles and jackhammers...if you can't put 2 and 2 together there man, There simply is not much more I can do. Enellz
Do you have any pics? I know their pushing air but those aluminum hdc3s are power hungry. Feeding them 2K each may not be enough, but man....be ready to push some air Quote 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER AKA The Batmobile Pioneer 6000UB Sundown SAZ-3000D 2 Audio Q HDC3's 40' of 1/0 Gauge 2 Big Rear Batteries A 38 HZ Box KICK ASS! LunatikGixxer
i can get some pics. but u really dont think 2000 for each sub is enough? i had the 2200 pushing one before i bought a second sub at 1 ohm and it pushed it pretty well. Naw man lol, I didnt mean it like that. Those things are power hungry, hell even the copper version is known to take about 2.5K. You have the room to upgrade with those subs, from what I heard they can take about 3k + of clean wattage.
