Eric B
Alright summer is basically here and im updating my system to a 15" BL powered by a RF T10001Bd and maybe a RF T4004 pusing my components down the road and im trying to keep the budget kind of low and I know I need to update my electrical system if I run those 2 amps and was wondering what would be better, getting a second battery (Kinetik KHC1400) or get a new alternator which would be a Iraggi "Dominator Series" the puts out 75A Idle/200A??? roscoe1129
I would recommend starting with a new altinator since you probably wont be banging that shit with the engine off. Eric B
but would that alternator provide enough current to push a system like that good? roscoe1129
fosgate reccomends a 150 amp fuse for that amp so I am guessing that a 75 amp idle altinator is going to be a little weak for that amp..... I dont quite understand how alternator ratings work, does 75A idle mean it creates 75A of current when the car is at idle? and is the 200A the max current it can generate, so will I ever see that alterator push 150A to that amp? roscoe1129
correct at Idle the alt is pushing 75 amps of current out of it to run your electrical system, the max your gonna see is while its spinning faster while running down the road at 30+ mph. so unless your gonna be reving your engine all the time (bad idea for the engine) you should get a stronger alt....somewhere around 175 or 200 Quote Some people need a sympathetic pat... on the head...with my hammer Scientia est Vox "In Nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti" DONT BE AFRAID TO USE THE SEARCH BUTTON!!! sean 371
But the amps never draw that much power to begin with, and its not a constant draw. That's what the battery is there for. The amps drain it, the alt charges it back up. If the amp drew 150 amps the fuse would be blowing. That alt would definately be an improvement. roscoe1129
Right I wasnt saying it would be drawing that much current just that a 75 amp alt at idle would be a little weak for his system....sorry for the confusion.
