I like to do as much of the work myself to learn and save money, but i dont mind paying for quality work. I have four 15t2 subs, two t40001bd amps and have tried defferent boxes. I would like build something that focuses on the meter.What kind of one note wonder could work in a Yukon? I know i have to test and experiment, but any advise would be cool.

It is absolutely possible especially with the equiptment you have. I would suggest using both of your T4000's on one sub as well. You'll just have to turn the gains down some so you don't cook your woofer. I use 1 15 in my spl setup. I don't exactly have an suv but my box works in an Explorer cause I happend to put it in a team member of mine's. It will do over a 153 in my vehicle now with a little over 5K watts. It did a 150.9 in the Expo with right around 3600 watts. You have way more power than what we were working with and I'd say that you could easily do 153's with the amount of power you have. The only thing that's going to be holding you back some is that sub. Nothing is wrong with it, it's just not great for spl. I'll give you a place to start and you can go from there. Build a box with 3 cubes after woofer displacement. Get yourself a piece of 8" pvc and flare each end like an aeroport. I can't tell you exactly where to tune the box to cause I don't happen to know the resonant freq of your vehicle, but if I had to guess I'd start out around 37-38 hz. Build the box so it is woofer up and the port external. Then you can try woofer up with the port firing back, to the driver's side, passenger side, woofer foward with the same flipping the port different ways. You see what I'm saying is make the box so it can be flipped around easily so you can find out which way is loudest. Also just by building that type of box I told you about won't guarantee you an automatic score but you should easily break 150 with your equiptment. I hit 150 with big box @39hz and four 15s, its sounded great on music but i realy want it for the meter. I didnt even want think of a wall because of my noobness. I will try with my 15s before going biger. I received a termlap from a guy in Mooresville, NC ,anywas I guess I have a solid starting point.

They are right on par with some of the top spl drivers in the world. I've seen in quite a few cases Nightshades being dropped in over several other brands and people gaining from .1 to even .5 db's. They are what I use for daily and spl. Jacob, the owner of Sundown, uses a single Nightshade in his Jeep and can do over a 154 with it on around 8-9K watts. cqtama Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 yea sundown makes some ridiculous stuff. if your planning on just burping and dont care to much about music you want to tune to the loudest freq in your car. since you have a tl i would say just get sub in a sealed box. play the same volume test tones from low freq. to high and the loudest one is the one your car likes the best. tune your box right around there and you should be getting pretty loud. no reson you cant do 150's. im pretty sure some of the loudest setups out there are single subs. install and box desing are the most important part R.I.P '01 blazer you treated my ears well until your transmission blew up.
