Is this normal?

So when im just sitting at a stoplight @ idol i notice my rpm's are consistent, not 750 consistenly lets say, itll go up to 1k then down to below 750. (maybe not exact numbers) BUT its does fluxuwate (sp). Is it supposed to stay @ one number, the only reason i ask is because other cars that I have been in just as a passenger, i notice theirs stay.

Car is a 2008 Ford Focus by the way. (AND IM NOT PLAYING BASS, JUST IDLEING)

Is your air conditioner on? Do you have a climate control system where you select a certain temperature? If so, it's most likely your A/C Compressor coming on and off to keep the correct temperature in the cabin.

It may be when the heat is on, or just regular but not a/c. I will try that and see if it still doesnt remain constant. Any more ideas?

AND no i dont have climate control, just the dial of cold to hot.

does it do this when it's warmed up or when it's just started up in the morning? It could be a bad idle control valve...... my car did that too and the IAC was shotty... it had mood swings. Just try turning off everything in the car and see if it continues to do it.

i had one of those cars when my truck was in the shop for a recall...it did the same exact thing everytime i turned the wheel...i assumed it was the power steering...do you hit the wheel at all when it does it?

I will pay attention to this tmm, because i dont want something to be wrong, because the car is "new" i bought it new and have only had it for about a year, so the alt idle control valve better not be fucked up, but we will see thanks for the ideas.

Its deffinetly doing it when the heat turns and all that, BUT it also does it when nothing electrical is on. So is it this idler thing? is that the alt?
