baggedon4s Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 The safest advice Ive ever gotten about the stock market is dont fall into the hype. You hear of people making millions over night, but if you bought say 1000 shares of $.03 stock, and it goes to $1 a share, you made $970 off $30. Dosent seem like it will make you rich, but if you re invest that $970 say into 20 penny stocks, and half of them got to .50, you made a good bit. Dont try to make it all at one time...basically dont put all your eggs in the same basket As for investing in the company you work for is a bad idea??? I dont know. Like wal mart, they match stock $1 on the dollar, so Id take that. Its a pretty steady stock, and if you lucky enough to get a split, then your good. But look at your work from a outside view, not that its busy. My dad worked at Lufkin Industries from 1985-2000. They make oil pumping units. The company almost went bankrupt in the late 90's after acquring its only competor, who did go under. When that happened, my dad dumped his entire 15 years of 401k into Lufkin stock at under $7 a share, they match a precentage on top of it...sold them in july or aug 2008 near $90 or so a share ..pretty wise move 99 suburban, ranger rover headlights, SS front bumper, roll pan with frenched tag, 2nd row delete, glassed dash..audio to come whenever I figure out what I want.
andym85 Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 hell...i drop $50 on it... i have my bachelor's in finance as well...penny stocks have always interested me because of the little investment needed to make a potential sizeable profit... best class i ever had was like an intro to investing....professor was a firm believer in passive investing passive investing being investing in a vangaurd fund that tries to duplicate the s&p500 for example reason for being better is due to about zero charges...no fee to get in or get out and very little brokerage fee since they dont actively trade.... this is of course a long term investing strategy... be nice and diversified: small cap, large cap, growth funds, value funds, REITS, international, emerging markets, bonds...etc... they make a passive fund for almost every sector of the market...vangaurd and fidelity have the best passive funds... if ur looking for long term then take the above advice....just be prepared to get hammered when the market does and visa versa...commodities such as gold are a good way to hedge that.....just gotta have a strong stomach for long term investing...and rebalancing your portfolio at least once a year is key so one sector doesnt get overwieghted... damn...my professor would be proud of me...lol i likes me some audio stuff...

pear_b Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 so you 2 use etrade, im new to this, but already have an advisor and stuff. besides etrader, scottrade, td ameritrade, theres a few other major ones that i remember reading alot of advanced users use, which one lets you buy in real time, or the quickest. FiBTLforlife Posted December 7, 2009 Author Report Posted December 7, 2009 so you 2 use etrade, im new to this, but already have an advisor and stuff. besides etrader, scottrade, td ameritrade, theres a few other major ones that i remember reading alot of advanced users use, which one lets you buy in real time, or the quickest. only person that needs to help you is yourself on this stuff unless you are investing like 10-25k then you will need more of a prof aproach. IMO if you are paying them, ill just save your money and learn on your own. I wanted to do a follow up on the TUEFF stock, i have just put another $500 into the stock which makes $1,100 invested at 5,000 shares. My friend (the one who just made 60k) has told me about this stock. after our research for over 6 months with the company, it is our beliefe that in the next 6 months the stock should reach close to $1.00 a share and if not reach up to $2.50 a share. its hard to find stocks that can be thought of a good, so i always like to share them with people if i can. so if you are wanting to get into anything here soon, i would strongly think about this company. do your own reading, research on them as you please but dont take me 100% that it will go up like i have told you. but as you can tell, i feel strongly on this stock seeing how ive invested half of my new audio build money into it lmfao 2 AQ 10'' HDC3 copper subs 1 3500d AQ amp 146.3db on TL with stock electrical in single cab truck at 32hz RESULT: 1st place at comp, 3rd overall out of 20 cars
wildbeast15 Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 i made 10k off washington mutual before it went belly up... (i sold when stuff was going down hill) i held onto it since i was 6.. started with 1k in it The set up your talking about would sound great in my Tahoe. Trade you my dog for it. He has one eye but that only makes for bad depth perception so hey so what if he is running into shit, look at it this way he is easy to sneak up ninja style on. (right side only)</div>
