ch0sen Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 if you read the knu koncepts thread you would find that cca wire has a higher resistance and only conducts 65% of dc current, in other words, pure copper is worth the extra money, according to caraudiomag you should go up an extra gauge if you use cca, then your not really coming out ahead, you can find some tsunami 50 ft wire for the same price as KK cca wire. That sir is BS. Period. Apparently you didnt fully read the comparison in caraudiomag. I do believe it was only a 200ish watt difference on something like 2500w's. I can pull the copy out if you really need me to. 65% power loss...plus impedence rise and given my voltage drop. I must only be seeing about 1000rms out of my stetsom. dirtboi22 Posted December 17, 2009 Author Report Posted December 17, 2009 ok well im probly goin with the 8 guage knukonceptz klm CCA wire. since its goin to be speaker wire thats only goin to a sub that takes 1200 rms.... Quote
ch0sen Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 (edited) i never had an opinion of cca wire, so i made a thread of it which more or less ended with someone giving me this page http://www.mwswire.com/cca.htm read it and make what you will of it From caraudiomag "Conclusion At this point you might be thinking that CCA wire is bad and shouldn't be used, but that's not the case. We've done extensive testing on CCA wire for several manufacturers and our results show that it can work very well for all but the highest current applications. Because of the additional resistance you simply can't substitute the same gauge CCA wire for the traditional gauge copper wire. Our strong recommendation would be to simply use one gauge larger size of the CCA cable than the copper cable. That being said, if you compensate for the increased resistance in the CCA cable by going to the next larger gauge size, you'll probably end up with equal or maybe even less resistance than the smaller gauge pure copper. But along with an increase in cable size comes an increase in price. This could mean little difference in bottom line prices between comparable copper and a +1-gauge in CCA, so be aware of whatyou're buying." Not trying to BS anyone, not trying to offend anyone, i was just stating what others have told me, i still don't understand it completely, no one on here gave me a definitive answer, some where like hell no don't' get cca, and others were like its ok to use and others were like cca is great. So idk, i just stated what i've read, sorry to offend ya tristan Edited December 17, 2009 by ch0sen Quote My current 95 Jetta Build w/ pioneer h/u 2 RD Sonance 10's with flatwind coils 2 Audiopipe apsm 1500.1s 1 Hifonics Brutus Elite 60x4 1 XS d925 1 Stinger spv35 1 1000 amp lead acid 50 ft of 0/1 ofc from Audiotechnix all powerbass components, and coaxils, 4 sets buildlog = http://www.stevemead...2-rd-10s-build/ My build for my wife. http://www.stevemead...01-f-150-build/
dirtboi22 Posted December 17, 2009 Author Report Posted December 17, 2009 thanks man, i was just wondering cause im lookin at buying the knuknoceptz klm 8 guage wire to run to my re sx 15's 1200 watt rms.... the wire was only 15 dollars for 20 feet... seems like a good price and 8 guage is the biggest i can run to them.... ch0sen Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 i'm sure 8 gauge cca to your subs should be 100% fine, if not overkill, give us some pics when you have it ran Quote My current 95 Jetta Build w/ pioneer h/u 2 RD Sonance 10's with flatwind coils 2 Audiopipe apsm 1500.1s 1 Hifonics Brutus Elite 60x4 1 XS d925 1 Stinger spv35 1 1000 amp lead acid 50 ft of 0/1 ofc from Audiotechnix all powerbass components, and coaxils, 4 sets buildlog = http://www.stevemead...2-rd-10s-build/ My build for my wife. http://www.stevemead...01-f-150-build/
