Jroc55 Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 ok im gonna put 3 10" mtx thunder 5500 series subs in the trunk (ported box), but i have a stock 8" sub that sits behind the back seat pointing towards the windshield using the trunk as the box you know. I was wanting to replace the 8" shortly after i install my tens, I was wondering if it would sound diff or bad if i replaced it with a diff brand sub, i was thinking maybe a JLw3 or somn. But you'll have cancellation issues, unless the single boxes exactly match the chambers to the box with 3.(Same exact size and tuning) And if its a common chamber, then its more of a pain. Honestly I dont think it would work. Why not just build 1 big ported box for all 5 when you get them?
