Ignantfi3d Posted January 4, 2010 Author Report Posted January 4, 2010 I've heard it before while using winamp, and WMP, but now I just noticed it while listening to iTunes. Boon Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 What's the exact model of the motherboard? Might (in fact probably) has bad caps. Quote 10.x volts fo' life!
S15_Silvia Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 If it occurs in more than one program and takes a little while to happen, then I'm 99% sure it's hardware. And you said you're using built in sound, so it wouldn't surprise me if the audio chipset on your motherboard is shot. Yeah, the make/model of your motherboard would be useful here...and I'm pretty sure getting a $30 internal PCI sound card would fix this. If you really wanted you could use an external USB one but that's usually if your budget is really tight. skittlesRgood Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 (edited) my laptop is almost always on. i just open and close it. last night i restarted it and the sound was a ton better. i also installed a driver for my sound card. maybe itll still act up after some time like with the OP, not sure yet. only thing i notice now is that i get frequent crackling like its trying to buffer the song? if i replay the part of the song that crackled it wont do it again. any of that make sence? edit - the sound was actualy a lot louder with my headphones after the restart. Ignantfi3d Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) damn I dont have the manual for my mb handy. it is about 3 years old tho. I was thinking about getting a new sound card soon. the only thing, I dont really hear it on youtube or other sites, only when playing music off my pc. And I did notice today that it starts right away, but becomes more pronounced the longer it plays. edit: just tried to open SoundMAX, the audio program that came with my motherboard, and it gave me an error, but music is still playing. Still distorted tho. Gonna see if there's any updates for soundmax. my pc is crap lol. Edited January 6, 2010 by Ignantfi3d Quote 1996 Vw Jetta Crunch 1500watt 1- Kicker 15" L7 @ 1ohm in a 4cu. ft.
