does that mean that using the bass boost EQ wont hurt anything but make it sound better?

no what I asked was does the bass boost on your iPod send a clipped signal to your deck

ISO tested it with a o-scope which tells whether or not there is a clipped signal by the wave..

with no EQ settings you can see a nice round curve

with the Bass Boost on distortion comes into play and you get some clipping which makes things sound worse and can in the long run blow your speakers, etc.

bottom line.. leave the EQ on the iPod OFF

Wouldnt be thehoe92 without teh purple

Well to a point.

I screwed up when I left my O-scope on auto and it jumped from 5Ms to 1Ms. What I wanted to know was if the iPods EQ got bypassed by the docking cable and the answer is no.

As long as you are not running your setup at full output you should beable to use the bass boost on on the iPod with out any major issues, you just can't turn your volume up as much or you will run your amps into clipping at a lower volume point from you H/U.

Sorry for the mistake but this does prove that the EQ does not get bypassed on the Alpine H/U.

Again Sorry.

What would the difference be between having the EQ turned off or having your EQ set on flat response on the Ipod?

I disconnected my Ipod to check the EQ settings and it was set to flat, then I tried Bass boost and it was a noticeable difference. I just turned it back to Flat response and left it there.
