You don't need an H/O alt at that power level. Not unless you're running maybe 3k of highs along side that 1.5k

Is 200amps really H/O? My alt now is starting to mess a little bit because of my system now, but it's also probally the only alt the car has had... that means its like 16 years old. But if I did do the 200 amp alt, that would stop dimming and voltage drop?

you could get away with a nice 200 amp, it would still be over kill, but if you plan on upgrading and adding more power in the future you'll still have enough alt power.. since you said you're alt was going out already.. it might have been caused by the stereo system, or having a shitty battery under the hood.. if you do plan on getting a h/o alt check out dc power engineering the phone number is 1888-441-0144 they should have something in your budget range
