down fire boxes

Anyone have any advise on down fire boxes, I want to put a single 12 in my winter car. (2003 ford explorer) I can't take up the 3rd row seating with a box so I was thinking of going with a down fire box but I have never built one or have heard one I liked.

I've made my final decision on amps but I'm going to ask for a little input on new sub to go with, I know it will be a 12 due to size restrictions. Ok amps will be my old Power Acoustick a1000db for sub and a Cadence Overdrive 4000 for mids and highs. As for sub I'm really open to suggestions to go with maybe a down firing box or move seat forward and face sub up, which would sound best.

do your back seats fold down? you could do a single 12 sealed off from the trunk firing forward or two tens or two twelves or one fifteen like I did

down firing is the way to go with SUVs keeping there 3rd row seats.

A common design for Navigators/Expeditions I used to do in the shops was 2- 3- 12" W3s, or W0s. Because with the back seats, the box needs to open up closer to the floor. And the box would just fire under the back seat, or to the side

sound wise, I love down firing, you usually get a cleaner sound due to less mechanical noise, and cones being in a kind of chamber

Awesome, that is what I was hoping to see. Now all I need to do is find my sub, I'm going on vacation to Mexico from the 25th to the 8th then I will start to rip the poor sploder to shreds and lay down some dampening material.
