i have a 98 mercury tracer :aggressive: for my winter car it was running fine....until yesterday it wouldnt start, i jump started it and turn on fine. But the battery light kept on flickering while it was running and after five minutes it died again.

I think its the alternator, what do you guys think?

On the jimmy when the alternator went bad i had to jump start it and would stay ON and not die after five minutes. Any help would be appreciated THANKS

Take the alt to a auto store such as Autozone, Oreillys and have them test it. What does your batts voltage rest at when the vehicle is off? The alt belt is tight and isn't slipping right?

i havent checked the voltage on the battery yet, but im pretty sure its good, its like 15 degrees outside so i might wait til tomoro lol but yeah the belt is nice and tight. Its just gonna be a pain to get the alternator out.

EDIT im going to have to take it out tho, imma hit up AutoZone tomorow by the sound of things.

10 bucks that the alt died, you should hit up dc alternator and get a h/o alt 1888-441-0144

The Alpine deck is worth more than the car itself to me lol so imma get the cheapest one i can...
