alan412
I wanted to know the benefits of adding a second battery in my setup. Currently i have a stock alt and stock battery. Got the big 3 done though. Will adding a second battery help me with voltage drop? My setup is around 2000wrms it depends on what size the 2nd battery is, if its big then it will show a big differnce i think but can u have a stock batt upfront and have a h/o one in the back? Adding another battery will be good for the system but not for a very long time. It hard to keep additional battery fully charge. Usually the alternator take control all the power within the vehicle..

If I were you I would lean into a high output alternator before a second battery. Quote DONT MIND ME, IM JUST A DISRESPECTFUL PIECE OF SHIT. Big 3 (1)Soundstream PCX2000D to power sub (1)Alpine MRP-F300 to power mids & higs i'm not planning on an upgrade for quite sometime. i know a h.o. alt would be my best option, but i just cant afford to do that atm. abervintageman42
i had a duralast gold in the back for a while and it did a damn good job of keepin my voltage at 14.5 at idle and it wont drop below 12.8 at full tilt

Nathan @ XSpower
A secondary batter in the back will help you with voltage dropping. By adding the second battery you are giving your system two sources to pull from instead of just the battery under the hood which is being used to run the vehicle and all the OEM electrical systems. You will see better performance though by changing out the battery under the hood as well. I am guessing it is probably the OEM battery and will not function as well as a good AGM battery. Another option to help until you get your HO alternator is using the VCM so you can charge at a steady voltage rate.
