Thewes
My buddy has a couple weird problems and I can't figure them out so hopefully you guys can give me a hand. First off the car is a 2004 Chevy Tahoe, and one problem he runs into is the mids and highs will completely cut off after a certain point of turning the volume up, my guess is its because the factory amp not being disconnected. The only way to fix it is to turn the car off then back on. So that leads me to wonder where is the factory amp located? The second problem has just recently begun, after a certain point on the volume, shortly after the mids/highs shut off, the bass begins to stutter on and off, as if the RCAS were bad? I swapped with a new pair RCAs and the problem still occurred. The amp is an MA Audio HK4000d, and I believe it has had the protect circuit removed, but I don't think its the amp because he just took it to an electronics guy to check it out. Does anyone know how to solve either of these problems? Maybe his head unit has just gone to shit? Im not sure of the headunit model but I know its a pioneer single din flip out. Any help is really appreciated, thanks.
Boon
I'm tempted to say voltage drop, check the ground, terminals, fuse holder, that kind of thing. I'm also tempted to say it's the amp. Those HKs are flakey as hell, and if the 'electronics guy' wasn't a specialist amp tech then I suspect he wouldn't really be able to tell anyway. 10.x volts fo' life! Never thought about bad ground, chances are its terrible. I'll sand down some frame and hit it with a self tapping screw see if that clears anything up. What do you think about the mids/highs cutting out? I'm guessing if I find the factory amp and take out the remote it might solve that...
pimpedout97x
did yall add a new amp for the mids/highs recently or is its the same mids/highs setup he has been running for a while? in the mini i completely bypassed the amp and ran new wires, rca's, and remote wire all together and just left the stock wiring in there unhooked. alvitae
My infinity amp shuts off when I really crank it. It's because i am running it at to low of an ohm load.
