If you have a motherboard that is DDR3 and the memory standard is 1666(oc)/1333/1066

Can you run 1600 DDR3 on it

Can someone explain this please?

Thanks.

SUCCESS is a decision, NOT a dream. You have to name the price you are willing to pay to get it.

obviously the OP's motherboard is a DIY type brand like asus/gigabyte, etc.... cause it says OC for ram options! So for all of you telling him to call a place and ask, or go to a website to check compatability, all that is pointless. Those compatability charts, pages, etc.... MEAN ABSOLUTLY SHIT! All that means is that a company paid to have there name on a chart, or in a book, nothing else. To the OP, YES YOU CAN RUN DDR1600 ram, on that board, you need to adjust the mem timings/settings in the BIOS for it to be optimal...... And dont forget the voltage settings as-well. Most newer sets of ddr3 are in the 1.65-1.8VDimm range, so start there.....
