SQ Amps?

Yet another suggestion thread...

Imma need two amps, one for subs and one for highs.

Sub amp needs to put out 1kw rms @ 2Ω. Will be attached to 2 Fi.Qs.

Highs amp needs to put out 100w rms x4 @ 4 Ω. Will be attached to 4 corners of Focal 3-way components.

And sound BADASS doing it.

I would really, really, really prefer that they come from the same company...

Thanks again.

You're going to run 1k to two Qs?

They're rated for 1000rms each.

I'd like to keep it less than $500 for eash, but I'm flexible up to say $750-800 ish for one or the other.

Yeah, 2 dual2Ω drivers wired parallel each speaker should see 1000w. Please correct me if I'm wrong, that's always bothered me anyway.

If I have to do 2 1kw amps I'll have to shoot Dom another PM about the alt. I dunno If I can dual alts on this car.

No you need 2000 watts total to give each sub 1000. You can get two dual 1 subs (wire each sub in series for a 2 ohm load, then parallel the subs for a 1 ohm final load) and then get an amp that does 2k at 1 ohm. Or you can do the same but with dual 2 ohm subs and get an amp that does 2k at 2 ohm.

You won't need dual alts to run ~2500 watts. Pretty sure you'd be fine with one HO alt and a few batts.

So regardless, the 2 subs on one amp only get half the power of the output each?

Even with them paralelled?

That explains why my MTXs barely move at all.

I'm planning on running a 220A alt with a Kinetik 1400 up front and a Kenetik 600 or two in the rear Wired with 1/0.

Yep, the power is split. You don't just get free power for wiring up multiple subs. The amp doesn't know what it's powering. You could have 1 sub or 10, the final load of the subs will determine the power output.

Parallel, series only determines the final load on the amp, not how the amp power them.

That explains a lot. Thank you for that. I'm going to scoop up a 1000w amp to play with my MTX's until I get ready for this new build. I'm already planning it about $4000 deep.

Anyone else vouch for Sundown amps? I've been reading the spec sheets since that last post...

I have an SAZ-1000d. I like it. No problems at all with it. I've been thinking about getting a 4 channel sundown to run my comps active. I don't know how good the SQ is on them for that though. Probably better then my kicker.
