sean 371
what you said and the big 3. read all the other dozen topics on this. carguy6702
after how many watts should 2nd batt. be needed?
andym85
depends on the vehicle...larger trucks and suvs already come with rather healthy size alts and batts. with my accord, im running 1200watts and just got one huge battery (NSB 90) and a larger alt. once you get around 1000 watts (or when your lights start significantly dimming) it is probably time to upgrade the alt or battery or both. the main thing is that you wanna keep up a nice voltage so your amp doesnt start clipping due to lack of an electrical system, which could damage the subs/speakers. carguy6702
ok so ill just upgrade the alt and batt first. if i see any dimming or voltage drops go with a sec. batt.? have had system id say over 1000 or so and when the lows hit i would see significant voltage drop when at higher volumes but would maintain 13+ at mid levels
andym85
just start small. do the big 3 upgrade. if that doesnt improve things, i would waste my money on a cheap battery to see if it helps, if it does then get a real nice battery (or just keep the cheapo). then you would have to eventually upgrade the alt. to keep up with a couple batts. (unless you wanna burn an alt up) hell, even with the big 3, 200amp alt, and a NSB 90, i get a drop to around 12volts when im doing a burp at full volume (but i have heard of guys getting down to like 9ish with huge systems and a few batteries due to their class at comps...but keep in mind those are pure spl vehicles)...but i can crank the shit on music (before my highs start to destort) and still maintain a voltage of 13+ all day long...i just tame it down when my amp gets warm Edited June 5, 2007 by amatt85 Quote i likes me some audio stuff... carguy6702
so ima have to take your advise and start small, but i think the big 3 wouldn't be enough for a BTL or would it? not sure on the amp still researching. im not going into any comps. just want strong pounding system
andym85
no...if you plan on running a btl, i would upgrade everything...cause depending on the options you get, they are able to take some serious wattage Quote i likes me some audio stuff...
