use a 6"

heres the idea:

hdc love port area and really need it to excel... im guessing ur box is ~2cuft w/ 1 4" aero

thats 6.25sqin of port per cuft

change to a 6" aero

ull have 14sqin per cuft, which is much more in line with the hdc

Well my box specs are

15" tall

22" wide - left to right

13 1/2 wide

is this even large enough ? Can I just cut the 4" hole open more and put a 6" in there Or should i try and make the box a little bigger, because the sub its self is eating up space. and thanks for the help

o and I only have maybe a foot between the end of the port and to inside of my trunk side panel

Are you going to competitions, or just a daily beater?

Aero ports do not require as much port area as a slot port to work properly. . . and enclosure volume does not determine require port area. . .it is just an estimate for those that can not figure out how much they really need :)

A 6" aero in ~1.8 cuft tuned to ~35 Hz will need to be 18" longer than the 4" port, so keep that in mind.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.

Just ordered a 6" port with a 17" long tube.

I do have a meca comp coming up, like 8 days. - so I want to try and win, and just do well. I beat daily alot to.

I dont know anything about tuning my set up - or cutting or adding length,.. I just slapped a spare 4" port on my box to get by. I could measure it if needed.

Im using a 1998 eclipse Iv heard that you have to tune kind of high in these cars.

any help will truly be appreciated..

That box is on the small side for sure. Can u make it bigger in any direction. I came up with 1.92 cuft before sub displacement on that box.

I could only go wider - left to right a little, I dont know how much is needed to be effective. - do you ?

The only thing is my port will be inches away from my inside trunk panel,.

I dont know if there is any other options really.

If you swap to a larger port, then it will have to be MUCH longer to maintain the same tuning frequency. Have you calculated your port length yet using the 6 inch port?

How much power are you running on that thing, by the way?

Im doing 2k,

I dont know what its tuned at right now, If i measure it can anyone tell me,.

plus I dont even know what is a proper frequency anyways.
