Using PVC piping for ports

Ernesto

Recommended Posts

Anybody ever done this? I know a guy at a local shop that did this and it didn't sound bad at all. I've heard people say that you can't use PVC piping for ports because they aren't/don't have the flares the aeroports have. Which is why aeroports are good for ports, because of the flares they have in the front and back.

Could you use PVC piping for ports or nah?

as far as iknow people flare the PVC sometimes to create a home make aeroport.

torch + metal bowl, can help you achieve this

Does the flare actually affect the sound (noticeable)?

it can help with port noise , it serves the same purpose as routing the edges in a slot port as far as i know

ya you dont HAVE to route the edges OR use an aeroport....a tube will work fine as long as its rigid.  Ive used pvc, abs, and even rigid cardboard tubing like whats inside a roll of carpet.  You just want to make sure you have enough area on the port your using to prevent port noise.  Aeros definitly are better but tubes work just fine....
