Tek Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 Hoping to start a small budget build in the near future with 6 Hifonics HFi's, I was curious what would be a good tuning frequency would be for a daily driver? I want it to be loud but I don't want my shit bottoming out on every single song like my friend with his L5's. I mostly listen to rap. I thought 34 HZ would be good seeing as I have seen quite a few people do that.

Probably wont unless the tuning is really high in an oversize box but 34hz is fine with daily...make sure to set your subsonic close to the tuning freq if you're worried about bottoming out the sub. Nirvalica Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 I'd say 32-34hz. I had a Type R in a 37hz box and it got loud, but I didn't like how it didn't get very low. I put it in a 33hz box and it sounded wonderful. Got much lower and just didn't sound so peaky. Also didn't seem like it was much quieter, but I'm sure it was a little. Now I have my Fi tuned to 28hz and it gets low. I really like the setup I have now. My Youtube Page. mlstrass Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 if you mostly listen to rap that drops low then that's where I'd tune. 30-32Hz would be fine and should be louder on the lows then a box tuned higher that's using the SSF to keep from hurting the subs...
